Strange Sightings
Thursday, June 11, 2009
Today was an odd day. It started off fine with a good workout, stop for coffee and work. Then things got a little weird.
The first instance (well, first through probably 100th) were expected. CMA Fest in downtown Nashville started today, and that always makes for some good people watching. It makes me wonder what people were thinking when they got ready in the morning. Just because you are on vacation does not give you permission to throw out all common sense in regards to what you wear. My friends and I have even made a game out of it called FINGO, or Fan Fair Bingo. Each square has some fashion "No-No" in it including things like muffin top, mesh shirts, tie-dye cowboy hats, saggy boob tattoos and inappropriate belly shots. Believe me we saw a lot of them. If you've ever been to a county or state fair, airport, theme park or music festival then I'm sure you've witnessed some of the monstrosities.
If witnessing the finest that come out for a musical festival wasn't enough on the drive home we spotted three Amish people walking down the street. Now Amish are not that strange, but the fact that they were carrying CMA Fest fans was a bit odd. I didn't know Amish were country music fans.
The final oddity of the evening was when I got closer to home. On the road to my house I passed a couple out for an evening walk. The guy was smoking a cigarette, so the walk couldn't be doing that much good, and on his shoulder was a large white bird. It looked like a huge parrot or something. I guess he was just taking him out for a walk.
I would have loved to have gotten pictures of my strange sightings, but unfortunately I didn't capture the moments. Maybe tomorrow during Friday's lunch session of Fingo I can snap some shots to share.
