Comet came home
Saturday, November 14, 2009
Comet's ashes came home this morning, and the nice people at Faithful Friends included a poem.
Shadowing our footsteps were four little paws,
governed by faith and devotion's great laws.
Thus it had been for many a year,
united in step till death did appear.
What man could learn about serving a cause,
from our Faithful Friends and their devoted paws.
I'd been doing good for the past couple of days when it came to the crying, but after reading that, the lump in my throat came back and my voice cracked.
This past week people have been so kind in offering their kind words and support. Some have even said it's for the best. I don't understand how losing a friend is for the best. It hurts. The pain is slowly subsiding, but it's still there. It sneaks up and gets you right in the chest.
The Hubs and I have briefly talked about getting another kitty, but we're going to wait for now. A new cat will never replace our Comet, and we need some time. In the meantime, we're remembering the fun we had with him and his headbutts.
