Sunday, May 31-Picture of the Day

Sunday, May 31, 2009

So I've decided to take more pictures - just of random things. Things that are inspiring, beautiful, weird, kind of odd, etc. Here is today's. I actually took this on Friday, but I thought it was a good start.

A storm blew in the last afternoon we were on the beach, and once it blew inland, the sky was amazing - the setting sun, the cloud formations and the shadows. It was a good farewell to a good vacation.

Another month down the drain...

Friday, May 29, 2009

They say kissing a frog will bring you a prince...what happens when you kiss a fish?

Well, after three days of anxious waiting it came. I was so hopeful. We did everything right, and I thought we had our timing down. Alas, my "aunt" has decided to crash the party and come for her visit. I had three anxious days because by my count I am three days late. Why does nature have to get my hopes all up? It just seems unfair.

It also happens to be the last day of vacation. So in my mood I'm going to try to think of at least five things that make me happy. They are as follows:

5. At least she came to visit on the last day and not the first day of vacation.

4. I have time and the means to go on a week-long vacation. I know there are many out there that do not, so I am thankful for this.

3. Friends and people around me that support me and pray for me during this fun time.

2. I finally told my sister and mom about this path we are going down, "the path to baby," and they are both supportive but not questioning. Really, this one can be for my whole family, whom I'm enjoying this vacation with.

1. Hubby - He's the best. He might not be the most excited person, but he at least acts sad when I tell him that it wasn't this month. He tries, and I love him.

So this month is down, but hopefully next month it'll all come together. Also, another good note...my cycle was only 33 days. This is way better than the 40 I used to have. So that's two months down for my "normal" cycle. I'm still contemplating going ahead and going on metformin. I mean it can't hurt, right?

Vacation Day 1

Monday, May 25, 2009

We made it. We're on vacation! After a long drive, we're able to rest, relax, play some golf, read some books and hang out on the beach. As I've said before, I like the vacations where you can just hang out with not a whole lot to do. Here are some pictures from day one.

Sister, brother-in-law and nephew on the beach.

A little golf time.

The internet connection is a little slow here. So I'll add more pictures to this post some other time. It's time to go to the beach!

It's almost vacation

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Every year my family meets up for a little rest and relaxation on the beach. It's coming up! I'm so excited. One whole week of book-reading, sitting on the beach and that's about it. I love these sort of vacations.

I mean, it's what vacation is supposed to be about.

Pictures from the past

Saturday, May 16, 2009

Thought I'd share some pictures from my past...starting with the baby stage.

Big Sis and I all dressed up.

Big Sis giving me a big hug.

I don't know if the shades were for a purpose or just for a funny picture.

At the parents' house

Last night I stayed over at my parents' house to dog-sit their golden retriever, Ginger. I didn't get over here until late, but I swear that everytime I come over here I feel good.

First off, my mom is a whiz with all things green. This is a trait I did not inherit. Everything around their house is blooming and lush and green. My dad has a knack for building things and stacking rocks. There are rock walls all over the place which also make the house look like it has been here forever - like it belongs here. Well, I hope it would since they built this house almost 25 years ago.

Wow, 25 years...I remember when they were building the house. We had to live in a rented trailer that they had put on the land. That was an adventure. My sister and I had to share a room and actually a bed, and my parents slept out on the fold-out couch. After getting up they would fold the bed back in and straighten up the pillows. Thank goodness we lived like that for less than a year, and I was only in first grade. So it really wasn't a big deal. I do remember that Christmas was pretty funny. All of the Christmas decorations were boxed up and in storage, so my parents set up one of those two-foot little trees, and my sister and I made stockings out of brown paper bags. We made it work.

It was nice when we were finally able to move into this house though. Lots more room, and I didn't have to share a room with my sister anymore. I'm sure she appreciated it since she didn't have her annoying little sister bothering her as much. She was in middle school and way too cool to play Barbies with me anymore.

Some things in the house have changed since then. It's been added on to, and new furniture has been added. But one thing I love is that my mom doesn't take pictures down, she just adds to them. So if anyone ever comes over, they can pretty much see our lives on the walls and shelves. Our adventures are out for display. I definitely inherited that. I love to take pictures, even though I don't post too many on here. I also love to display pictures in my house. This is something the hubby had to get used to. He didn't grow up surrounded by photographs or even taking photographs. He's getting used to it, even though everytime I pull out the camer he gives me a look - the "don't even thinkg about taking my picture" look. I still sneak one in every now and then.

A long Wednesday

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Are Wednesdays the longest days in the week? It sure seems like it. The hours just tick by slowly. Is it because it's in the middle of the week? The beginning of the week brings lots of meetings and things to get done. The end of the week brings the weekend. So what's Wednesday? It's pretty much the crap in the middle...kind of like Kentucky (no offense Kentuckians).

New ring

Saturday, May 9, 2009

I did want to show off my newest purchase.

It's from this great Etsy shop, Pamela Susan. I figured this ring was very appropriate with what's been going on. We all need a little hope sometimes, especially when we are walking down the path to conception.

Here's a closer look.

Lazy Saturday

It has been one of the most relaxing and lazy Saturdays that we've had here at the Baldwin house. After a pretty busy week at work (about 55 hours) and two flag football games, I think we deserve it. We've also had a busy couple weeks, and this is the first Satuday we didn't have anything planned to do. Well, I had a hair appointment, but that's it.

So how did we fill our time? Well, I watched a couple movies and a few episodes of Mythbusters while hubby played video games in his man cave. With the rain outside, that's about all there was to do. All I have to say is nice and relaxing.

Diagnosis: PCOS

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

I visited with the doctor today, and it was a good visit. I have a diagnosis - PCOS. Now this isn't anything terminal or even something that can make me feel really bad. It just means that I'm a bit out of whack.

Right now I'm trying to work on it through diet and exercise. My doctor did prescribe me some meds, but since I already take a pill for my thyroid, I'd rather not have to take more pills. So for the next few months, I'm hoping for those 30-day cycles to continue on. That would be a sign that things are maybe working themselves out. My doctor said that we could watch the cycles for a couple months, and if I felt like taking the pills I could. If after about six months there is still no progress in the baby-making situation, I would probably need to go see a specialist.

I feel good about this. I feel like we're moving forward, and I will be continuing on my path of no carbs and exercise. The 30-day cycle isn't the only thing that's shown improvement...I've lost 25 pounds!
